Welcome to the web site of the Association of Petersfield Businesses (APB).

Please do take the time to browse our site as this is not just another Petersfield Business site. Having just ‘surfed’ the internet myself under the enquiry of Petersfield, I was surprised by the number of Business sites that appeared on my screen. However, upon a closer inspection I found that the primary objective of these sites was for networking, business to business. Now I have no objections to this but as a businessman I think it is also important not to forget the area your business is positioned in. It is good to promote your business to other businesses but if the surrounding area or Town you are located in is suffering a down turn i.e. Petersfield. Then somebody needs to try to change this and get the area vibrant again.

That’s hopefully where the APB comes in. We too are a group of business men and women trying to do the best for our businesses by networking but also by protecting the area we trade from. For example last February and March we were very active in lobbying the East Hants District Council over their proposed increase in car parking charges and the proposal to start charging for Sunday parking. We had some success with the Council agreeing to monthly payments for season tickets and to review an affordable car park for the workers of the Town. Also, it was agreed that the Sunday car parking charges would be reviewed after a year. This the EHDC are doing at the present time.

With the new Council Tax year nearly upon us the Association is very much aware that any increases could have a detrimental affect on a Town that already has quite a few empty shops. Especially the prime site of the old Woolworths store.

Obviously the more members the Association has the bigger the voice it has and also with more subscriptions it will allow us to do more for the Association and the Town we trade in. So please take 5 minutes of your time to tour our site and then click on the JOIN US section and we will be in touch .
